Yup, that’s right. It doesn’t matter what age you are. There are markets out there for you. Now granted, being an underage writer does have it’s disadvantages. Most publishing houses will not consider your submissions. BUT BUT BUT there are other markets to explore.
How about magazines??? Yes, there is a need for a Young Writers point of view (pov). Serveral magazines only publish material from Young Writers.
There is also a valuable website you can check out… It’s call The Blue Boards and there is a section… wait for it… wait for it… Just. For. YOUNG WRITERS!!!!! Here is the URL: http://www.verlakay.com/boards/index.php
I have found The Blue Boards as a valuable resource for me as an adult writing for children, and I know you can find gems there too.
The main reason for this post is that I believe that no matter what your dream, or the odds that stack up against you, to try, try, try and then when you want to quit… Try AGAIN! After writing professionally for almost 11 years, I’ve made it. It is a hard road to travel and the rewards can be few and far inbetween in the beginning. BUT if you don’t give up the rewards TOTALLY outweigh the bad you had to go through to get there.
Good luck. Until next time,
