This mornings post on TARA LAZAR’S BLOG was about limitations.
That got me to thinking about the limitations that we have in our own lives. It doesn’t have to pertain to writing either. Work, kids, spouses, sickness, friends, LIFE IN GENERAL. It all can get in the way of what we want to accomplish.
That can go into our writing too. We take on too many assignments, deadlines loom, writers’ block, etc. can get in our writing time, inspirational thought process, and the way we look at our writing.
BUT we can apply that to our characters too.
- What doesn’t your character see because the look at the glass half empty or half full?
- What physical or emotional problems hold your character back?
- What other character in your story could be a roadblock?
- What time period does your character have to beat?
- What can you think of?
There are limitations, just like inspiration, everywhere we look. Are you going to grasp the moment and run with it? Or let it hold you back?
Me? I see the wall in front of me. Then I decide to try and climb that joker and not let it stop me!
Leave me a comment and let me know what your limitations are and how you choose to overcome them.
