~Press Kit Info~
Press Kits can be tricky. You need to include valuable information and have a simple article that will be easy to use.
Before newspapers accepted email press kits, a/k/a back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, you would mail out a packet. Now, you can email! Yes, so much easier!!! 🙂 So what to include??? I have the following:
- Head shot
- Image of cover art
- Article
- Contact information
- Where can you purchase the book
Head Shot
Have a quality picture of you done. Seriously. I use my head shot for jacket flap, posters, newspapers, etc. I have several that I can choose from.
Image of Cover Art
You want to make sure your book cover is included so people will know it is the correct one. Yes, there are multiple books with the same title.
Article
Something short and engaging. Here is one I wrote for Ribbert’s Way Home:
“Ribbert’s Way Home” is Hopping onto the Scene
Moving can be a scary experience. When their pond dries up, a family of frog must get to hopping and look for a new place to live. Ribbert helps his family explore the world around them, avoid a snake, and find a new pond that’s deep-deep-and-deeper.
Suggested age range for readers: 2-8
“Ribbert’s Way Home” is written by Children’s Book Author, Tracey M. Cox and published by Guardian Angel Publishing.
Tracey is a local author who lives in Ocilla, GA. She has been writing professionally since 2000. “Ribbert’s Way Home” is her second published picture book.
Among her credits, Tracey is a member of SCBWI and the contact person for South Georgia. She was the first recipient of the Tifton-Tift County Public Library “Library Hero” award in 2003. Tracey has several writing credits including local newspapers, several children’s magazines, and being a children’s book reviewer.

Short, simple, to the point.
