Crochet Lefty – Beginner 101: How to Chain

Chain. Chain. Chain.

Chain of foooooooools.

Oh yeah. I’m singing. I’m rocking. I’m ready to get this ball of yarn rolling. *laughter* I hope you are as excited as I am on learning how to crochet.

BUT (you know I’ve got to insert my big ol’ butt here), but you need to get the basics down first.

You have your supplies… CHECK

You know how to tie a slip knot… CHECK

Now you’ll need to know how to create a foundation chain. ALL projects have a foundation chain. You can either create the chain first. As we will learn how to do in my video. OR you can create the chain along with your first row. Which is more advanced and I have finally learned how to do the single crochet foundation chain stitch. Woot! Woot! *throws hands in the air and waves them around like I don’t care*

So grab your hook and yarn. Let’s get a chaining…

Thanks for visiting everyone. Remember to continue to chain during the week. A few times a day for only a few minutes will get you results. The more you go through the routine, the more you will become more comfortable.

Next week we will begin to do single crochet (sc) stitches!

Until next time…

Happy hooking!

Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum in a Dish Activity

Do you like to blow bubbles with your bubble gum? I know I do. 😀

Although I know sometimes blowing bubbles can get you into trouble. It can be noisy. It can get sticky. It can be rude.

How about an activity that has all the fun of blowing a bubble AND it lasts?!

This Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum in a Dish activity will have you popping for fun! All you’ll need to do is download this free page, grab your crayons, a balloon, scissors (let an adult help you), and some tape.

Let me see what you do! Have a grown-up post your #fanart to social media with the hashtag #TMCcreates. I can’t wait to see what you’ve done.

Don’t forget to read my book, Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum in a Dish, and let me know what you think about it.

Have fun creating!

I’m in interrupting my normal posts in a way… Well, this news does go beyond the book. Or actually before the book! 😁

Many times you’ll see a small article announcing a book deal in a magazine. But did you know there are hundreds of deals that do not get mentioned. Many small publishing houses do not get a listing. Those deals are big too. After all, every book that comes into this world is someone’s dream. When you hold a book, you are holding hundreds of hours of work, a dream, a piece of someone. I think all of those deserve to be celebrated, don’t you?

So without further ado….

Picture book author,Tracey M. Cox has sold her rights to Guardian Angel Publishing for what will be her 11th picture book. The book will be illustrated by Jack Foster, who also has multi-books. This will be the second book Tacey and Jack have collaborated on.

THE GET AWAY DANCE is a picture book that addresses a very sensitive subject, but will empower children. What to do if a stranger tries to take you away? The story will reinforce Stranger Danger techniques. Then it describes what a child should do if the worse happens. What should you do if you do everything right, and yet someone tries to take you? You do THE GET AWAY DANCE!

Thank you everyone for coming over to hear my news! I’m super excited and cannot wait to see the amazing illustrations Jack does!

Until next time…

Happy reading!

Happy 2019!

Happy 2019!

It’s the new year! That means a new chapter, a blank canvas, a new project, and so many adventures await! I always look forward to this day. I’ve been planning on how to redirect my blog to be more beneficial to my targeted audiences.

What does that mean for you? Hopefully, it will help you become more aware of the products I offer, as well as give you some insight on how to become better at what you do and also become more interactive with what I do.

Here is a peek at what I will be offering this year:

  • MONDAY: MARKETING — I will be offering marketing tips and tricks that expand across any field. If you work for yourself, you need to be marketing.
  • TUESDAY: AVON — I am an independent AVON representative and will be showcasing different products, how-tos, reveals, and more. Let’s get to know AVON better!
  • WEDNESDAY: BEYOND THE BOOK — I will take a more in-depth look at my books and how you can expand learning and having fun with them.
  • THURSDAY: COLORING PAGES — Who doesn’t like to color? From inspiration from my own books and more, I will be offering free downloadable/printable coloring pages.
  • FRIDAY: LEFT HOOK CROCHET — Did you know I’m a fiber artist? I began my crochet journey in 2017 and now offer my products for sale. BUT I have a hook on what I do… I’m a lefty! My Left Hook Crochet posts will be dedicated to leftys with patterns, videos, and more.

So much to do for this year. I hope to be more interactive and can’t wait to see what you think of everything.

Until next time….

Happy writing/illustrating/crocheting!

Off The Hook by: #LeftHookCrochet

Off The Hook with #LeftHookCrochet

A lot of you know I like to be creative. One thing I’ve always been amazed at is crochet and knitting. My mama could crochet anything she wanted to. She tried to teach me when I was young, but wanted me to crochet right handed. But… I’m a lefty. Needless to say, I could never learn.

THEN a little over a year ago, I asked my sister to teach me. She sat across from me and I did what she did… Backwards. 😂 And it worked! My Friday posts will be about my journey crocheting, tutorials, and patterns.

I hope to help others learn and give other Lefties a place to find some inspiration!

Leave me a comment:

Do you crochet?

What hand do you use?

Until next time…
Happy Hooking!

Writing – Just Do It! by: #TMCProductions

Writing – Just Do It!

I think every published author has heard the question:

How do you write a book?

I think my favorite quote is:

Image result for open a vein and bleed writing quotes

Honestly, sometimes it feels like this. It can exhaust you. You pour your heart and soul into each letter, each word, each sentence, each paragraph, each story. When you hold a book, you are literally holding onto someone’s dream.

Writing is an amazing thing.

So… How does one write?

Quite simply, BIC.

Sit down and write. It doesn’t have to be perfect. First drafts are called sloppy copies in school for a reason! *laughing* The main thing is to get your idea down onto paper or the computer screen. Breathe life into the sparks of your thoughts. Watch as the oxygen gives energy and becomes more vivid. Before you know it, you will have your story, or at least the gist of it, down.

Take a break.

Take a deep breath.

Take a good look at your manuscript.

Be proud. You have accomplished something magical. Something extraordinary.

Then roll up your sleeves and get ready to do the HARD work. Yes, I wrote “HARD”. “But that WAS hard,” you say? I know. I struggle even after writing professionally for over 18 years! BUT getting that first draft ready for publication… that’s where you add pressure to every word, every scene. You squeeze. You shift your visions. You hold onto the parts that matter and move the story forward. You learn to toss the parts that stall your story.

Continue moving forward. Constantly! Before you know it, you will have a story that sparkles like a diamond.

Keep checking in on Wednesdays, as I will be sharing writing tips and tricks I have learned over the years. Somethings I had to learn the hard way and some things I was lucky enough to have someone else pass onto me.

Do you have a hard time with ideas?
What is your downfall?

www – Wednesday
South Georgia Writer’s Guild

Today I wanted to share another organization I’m a part of. It is call South Georgia Writer’s Guild. (SGWG)sgwg-logo-final

SGWG was formed by a handful of writers who all live in South Georgia. (Bet you never who have guessed that, right! *laughing*) We write from all different genres and have all different experiences. But that what makes this organization so amazing!

We have found that we can pull from each other and grow.
Over the past few years we’ve gone from a handful to almost 100 members.
We meet two times a month and have video meetings too.
There are writers from kidlit to romance to sci-fi to fantasy to gamers to (fill in the blank)!
We have hobbiest to intermediate to experienced. Indie and traditional.

Feel free to check out the South Georgia Writer’s Guild website and join the group, if you like!

Are you a member in a great group? Let us know who they are!

Until next time…
Happy writing!
